In response to the question about what the children eat, they mostly had porridge every day with hot tea. I actually only got to see the children sit down to eat on the day we left and they had the porridge (looked like thin tomato juice with very little else in it), hot tea, and then they were bringing them some sort of casserole looking thing to go with it. They knew about bananas and requested we bring some bananas and juice for our second day. Of course, we were happy to oblige. They have many kinds of small juice boxes here, so we brought cherry, pineapple, and apple for them. They liked them all, but I don't think had ever had any before. I think the prospective adoptive parents bring them for the children and they'd heard about them from the others. They didn't really act like they'd had the juice boxes before - and they're definitely not like normal banana eaters in our family - they ate even the brown ugly parts!
They'll get to experience a lot of new firsts for sure.
We're off to explore Red Square and most of the traditional Moscow sites. We rode the subway yesterday. Today we'll ride a boat on the Moscow River to get to Red Square. And, home tomorrow!
